Last week, our very own James Green went ‘back to his roots’ by returning to his former College to chair an event at the University of Cambridge.
It was the biennial Fitzwilliam College Cambridge Computer Science and IT Dinner, an evening which welcomed 50 attendees ranging from current students to people who had studied in the 70s (not forgetting fellow Green Custard team member Gavin too).
James was thrilled to introduce his personal connection and the guest speaker for the evening: Peter Cowley. A Cambridge University technology graduate, Peter has founded over 10 businesses in technology and property over the last 35+ years. He’s built up a portfolio of over 60 angel investments, is the WBAF Best Angel Investor of the World, and was UK Angel of the Year 2014/15. He has also mentored hundreds of entrepreneurs, is the chair of the Cambridge Angels, and is a fellow in Entrepreneurship at the Judge Management School in Cambridge.
Peter was the absolute highlight of the evening, with his inspiring speech on lessons learnt throughout his career, and in particular his angel investing. His talk was not only fascinating, but really struck a chord with us given the extensive work we do with startups in and around Cambridge.
So thank you Peter, Fitzwilliam College, and the Cambridge Computer Science alumni for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
If you’re interested in finding out more, Peter is sharing his and others’ experience and anecdotes of angel investing by publishing online and offline – www.investedinvestor.com.
