Earlier this month, Jonathan, Zoltan and Gavin stepped out of the office to be part of an Amazon Web Services IoT Bootcamp. This two-day event was designed to train their customers on IoT services, direct from the AWS London hub.
The Green Custard team were there in two capacities - as both partners and learners.
Given our Select Consulting Partner status, the team's AWS IoT advocates, Jonathan and Zoltan, were invited to present at the Bootcamp. Together they explored:
- Why IoT - how it can help your company and deliver ROI through increased efficiency or new revenue streams
- Success factors to gain an edge in IoT - begin with what you do, learn with multiple use cases and embrace the chance for business-process change
- Case studies - looking at the problem, solution and impact
- Use cases - legacy platform, standardise, reporting, real-time, anomaly detection
If you would like to view our entire slide deck from the Bootcamp, you can do so here.
Following the presentations, we were able to offer advice and answer questions from the 50+ guests on a 1-2-1 basis. It also gave us great delight to hand out some freshly baked Raspberry Pis, which are fantastic for getting started with AWS Greengrass and IoT, as a thank you to all who attended.
"It's amazing at events like these how quickly you can go from not knowing someone, to exploring improvements on an amazing idea they just had." - Zoltan
On the flip side, Gavin was there as an attendee and his top 3 takeaways across all presentations were:
- IoT has seemed to be the next big thing for a long time and it was interesting to see real world case studies of large deployments that you wouldn't hear of otherwise.
- Amazon's IoT offering will mean that difficult things like security and upgrades will just work without costly and risky development from your development team.
- Scaling from a proof of concept to millions of devices is no simple matter and Amazon's IoT has shown how this can be done, eliminating much risk for new IoT deployments without infrastructure development.
"The AWS IoT offering is a rich set of tools that can be combined in many different ways. It was an excellent opportunity to learn from Amazon's solution architects best practices and the innovative ways these different services can be used." - Gavin
Overall the team's involvement with this event was a great success, from both a speaker and attendee point of view. We run multiple IoT events across the country in partnership with AWS, if you would like to hear more, please sign up for our newsletter.
